In mid-December, a new law went into effect aimed at punishing adults who drive with children in their car. Leandra’s Law is named after a child who died when a driver flipped their vehicle over in Manhattan. Just this summer, eight people died when a mother drove under the influence on the Taconic Parkway and crossed into incoming traffic.
Apparently this wasn’t enough to stop some people… a woman was apprehended on Christmas night after she was found to be under the influence with 4 young children in the car. She thought she was in Rochester, New York when in fact she was in Utica, NY which is outside of Syracuse.
Make safe decisions this New Year’s Eve and Day… don’t drink and drive.
